Back in the apartment, I sat and had a quiet cup of tea, thinking about the St. Paul’s apartment, distracted as images of Ming’s pussy came into my mind.

Michael turned up just as I started to doze off.

‘Where you been?’ I asked him with a yawn.

‘South, the ruins.’

‘And your interest is … what?’

‘Ancient civilisations, and their tribal societal structures.’

I nodded. ‘More psychology stuff.’

‘Understanding the past means understanding how we got to this point of … high rise buildings and bad traffic.’

I made him a tea. ‘I took the girls swimming, at Sementa.’

He smiled widely at the name. ‘Cold for them?’

‘Not too bad, was warm today.’

‘Did you contact any other girls?’

‘No, I haven’t looked at Tinder and Badoo.’

‘Oh … my … god, you found Shakespeare,’ he quipped.

I shot him a look. ‘Maybe, yes.’

‘So … you want a nice apartment in the sun, a few Asian girls available for some recreation but not producing babies.’

‘Well … sounds about right, yes.’

‘Any urges to go sit in a bar and chat to old drunks?’

‘Not so far, and not in the near future,’ I adamantly stated. ‘Derek showed me an apartment today, tall tower in St. Paul’s Bay on the hill, could see Italy and Scilly from up there! Three-ten, but I have to be vetted by the other pensioners apparently.’

‘Sounds like a place that would not let you use Airbnb, no rental income when you’re not resident.’

‘Ah, yes. He also has villas in the south.’

‘A better bet, yes, a nice villa with a pool, naked girls swimming behind high walls. And … get some sun cream on you before you fall sick.’

I rubbed my face. ‘Yes, caught the sun these past few days.’

‘You look better though.’

With Michael gone I watched the BBC TV news, after I figured the damn controls, then walked down to Cara’s for a meal by myself, a sea view. But as I sat there I did not feel lonely, not one little bit.

With a full belly, I walked slowly back up, the air temperature having dropped quickly, and with a good bottle of red wine opened I sat on the balcony in several layers of clothing, sipping the wine as I stared out across the bay at the twinkling lights.

The wine went down well, I warmed up inside, my mind wandering as I emptied the bottle, a silly grin imagined on my face.

About to fall asleep, I eased up and closed the balcony doors, so much wine in me I staggered to the bed, just about enough energy to undress and collapse.
